Cargo Insurance
All-risk and named-peril policies arranged per shipment or on open cover, with claims handled in-house — protection that matches the value on the box.
Protection that matches the value on the box.
Carrier liability is capped by weight, not by what your cargo is actually worth — a few dollars per kilo, long before the real value of the shipment is met. ATA arranges marine cargo cover that closes that gap, so a loss is a claim to be settled, not a hole in your quarter. We place the policy; the underwriting capacity sits with licensed insurers.
All-risk & named-peril
Most shipments are best protected on an all-risk basis — physical loss or damage from any external cause, end to end. Where the route, commodity or budget calls for it, we place named-peril cover scoped to the specific exposures that matter on that lane. Either way the wording is matched to the goods, the mode and the door-to-door journey rather than left to a generic default.
Per shipment or open cover
Ship occasionally? We arrange single-transit certificates per consignment, declared and priced before the cargo moves. Ship constantly? An open cover automatically insures every qualifying shipment under one agreed set of terms, so nothing sails uninsured while someone chases a certificate. Because ATA already books the freight, the values, routing and milestones flow straight into the cover — no rekeying, no gaps between booking and bind.
Claims, handled.
When something goes wrong, the last thing you need is a forms maze. Our team supports the claim in-house — documenting the loss, preserving recovery rights against the carrier, and liaising with insurers and surveyors so the file moves. The people working the claim are the people who moved the cargo, which means fewer handoffs and a faster, cleaner settlement.
What you get when you insure cargo with ATA
- All-risk & named-peril — wording matched to your goods, lane and mode, not a one-size default.
- Per shipment or open cover — single-transit certificates or automatic cover across every qualifying move.
- Marine cargo, end to end — ocean, air and the road legs in between, on one door-to-door policy.
- Valuation guidance — practical help setting insured values so you're neither under- nor over-covered.
- In-house claims support — the team that moved the freight documents the loss and drives the settlement.
